Jun 26, 2012
State Rep. Susi Hamilton was recognized as one of three “Rising Stars” in the General Assembly by the N.C. League of Conservation Voters.
The distinction, according to a news release, acknowledged her “commitment to prioritizing environmental issues” early in her legislative career. Hamilton, a Democrat, is a first-term representative from Wilmington.
Reps. Patsy Keever, D-Buncombe, and Chuck McGrady, R-Henderson, were also recognized as “Rising Stars.”
“These representatives played key roles on legislation ranging from water and energy conservation and efficiency to protecting public health,” according to a news release.
The League of Conservation voters honored 10 members of the General Assembly at a Green Tie Awards Dinner held last week in Raleigh. About 200 business, environmental and political leaders attended the event.
Reps. Joe Hackney, D-Orange, and Pricey Harrison, D-Guilford, were among the others to be honored by the group.
