Advocating for Sound Environmental Policy
Turning Your Environmental Values into North Carolina Policies
NCLCV works at the state level to pass strong environmental policies that protect North Carolina's natural resources, our quality of life, and the health of our communities.
We educate our decision-makers on key issues by publishing the Hotlist, a weekly e-newsletter for legislators. We are at the General Assembly every day being a strong, professional, and pragmatic voice on behalf of the environment. We work in coalition with other environmental and allied groups to leverage our power. And we work to hold our decision-makers accountable by keeping you informed about their environmental decisions in the Legislative Scorecard.
Stay up to date by signing up for the Conservation Insider Bulletin e-newsletter. Or check out our Bill Tracking feature.
While we partner with many environmental advocacy groups on a variety of issues, NCLCV brings a particular political filter to our advocacy work. We understand the intricacies of the political landscape in which all environmental decisions are being made, and take a pragmatic approach to improving our environmental protections at the General Assembly.
We've lobbied on a wide variety of issues over the years. But since 2008, our legislative priorities are set by the NC Common Agenda: Priorities for the Environment. Through the Common Agenda process, hosted by the NCLCV Foundation, the larger environmental community sets shared legislative priorities, and these priorities become NCLCV’s top legislative agenda each session.
