Who We Are
Our Mission
The North Carolina League of Conservation Voters (formerly Conservation Council of NC) is a pragmatic, non-partisan advocacy organization working statewide to protect, preserve, and enhance the quality of life for North Carolina citizens. To accomplish this, we:
- Advocate for sound environmental policies;
- Educate legislators and the public on critical environmental issues;
- Hold legislators accountable for their decisions that impact the environment;
- Mobilize voters to advocate for positive changes in environmental policies; and
- Elect candidates for public office who prioritize passing sound environmental laws – through our Conservation Political Action Committee.
For more than 40 years, we have been an active and important voice for people just like you—North Carolinians who value clean air and water, beautiful lands and healthy communities. We believe creating strong environmental policies to protect North Carolina’s future needs to be a top priority for elected officials, political candidates, and voters across the state. We provide:
- Political clout in the Legislature;
- Legislative Scorecards that document where your elected officials stand on important environmental votes; and
- Leadership for coalition activities that achieve legislative goals, such as the NC Common Agenda: Priorities for the Environment.
We believe who you elect matters. We need leaders who understand that a sound environment, a strong economy, and healthy communities go hand in hand.
NCLCV is a member of the national League of Conservation Voters, an effective national organization advocating for strong environmental policies at the federal level and electing pro-environmental candidates who will prioritize such policies.
