Action & Accountability

We advocate for your environmental values to protect your family and community.

Our Mission:

The North Carolina League of Conservation Voters (NCLCV) is a pragmatic, results-oriented, non-partisan organization whose mission is to protect the health and quality of life for all North Carolinians, with an intentional focus on systematically excluded communities of color. We elect environmental champions, advocate for environmental policies that protect our communities, and hold elected leaders accountable for their decisions. We create a political environment that will protect our natural environment.

We fulfill our mission by:

What We Do

We Elect

Environmental Champions

NCLCV gets directly involved in electing decision-makers who share your values. With your help, we’re building a pro-environment majority at the state level who will fight for clean air, clean water, and clean energy.

We Advocate

Green Caucus

We are forming a Green Caucus in the General Assembly to protect people — instead of polluters. The caucus will work together to advance clean energy and fight climate change.  They will advance efforts to keep us safe from toxic pollutants like GenX, coal ash, and hog waste. The Green Caucus is one of NCLCV’s many initiatives to advocate for North Carolina’s environment.

We Keep Score

Legislative Scorecard

The first step in holding an elected official accountable is to know their score: how they voted on issues that affect our air, water, and land. NCLCV provides the resources you need to learn who really cares about the environment. Our Legislative Scorecard tracks how our leaders are voting on critical legislation that impacts our environment.

We Honor

Green Tie Awards

Each spring, NCLCV hosts our annual Green Tie Awards to honor environmental champions who have stepped up and spoken out on our issues at the General Assembly and in the public. This is the event to be at every year, right at the intersection of the environment and politics.

The Power of Three

Our Family of Organizations

North Carolina League of Conservation Voters is a family of three organizations — each with their own mission, programs, and Board of Directors. This three-tiered approach uniquely positions us to be a steady, strong, and effective force for sound environmental policy making at the state legislature and at the ballot box.

The Conservation Voters family of organizations includes:

We Are Part of the Conservation Voter Movement

The Conservation Voter Movement is a unique network of 30 state organizations and one federal organization (League of Conversation Voters) that closely collaborate and share expertise and resources in order to effect positive change at all levels of government.

This network has a strong track record of victories at every level of the political process, in red, blue, and purple states alike. Together, we have pioneered new organizing and electoral strategies and are leading the charge to defend the environmental progress we’ve made over the last 45 years.
