Our Organizations

North Carolina League of Conservation Voters is a family of three organizations—each with their own mission, programs, and Boards of Directors. This three-tiered approach uniquely positions us to be a steady, strong, and effective force for sound environmental policy making at the State Legislature. Our family of three works to turn environmental values into North Carolina priorities.

North Carolina League of Conservation Voters (NCLCV)

North Carolina League of Conservation Voters (NCLCV) is our advocacy organization. NCLCV employs professional environmental advocates who work in the legislature and beyond, advocating for strong environmental policies. We publish a Legislative Scorecard telling you how your lawmakers voted on key environmental issues that you care about – and together, we hold them accountable for the decisions they make.

North Carolina League of Conservation Voters Foundation (NCLCVF)

North Carolina League of Conservation Voters Foundation (NCLCVF) is our citizen outreach and education organization. NCLCVF knows that protecting North Carolina’s environment starts with North Carolinians. We work to build the capacity of the environmental community to effectively advance sound environmental policies, including fostering the NC Common Agenda: Priorities for the Environment. NCLCVF provides allied groups with the tools to inform and mobilize their members as a more potent force in North Carolina’s political landscape through non-partisan civic engagement work. We work to educate and engage state agencies, elected officials, and the public on key environmental issues, including better enforcement of existing environmental laws. We also play an important role in organizing citizens who share our environmental values to effectively engage in the democratic and policy-making process.

Conservation PAC

Conservation PAC is NCLCV’s affiliated political action committee. With your help, we support candidates for public office who will put sound policies in place to protect our environment. Candidates are evaluated by a panel of political and environmental experts based on their issue platforms, their leadership on environmental issues, their record (as an incumbent legislator or elected official), their score on our Legislative Scorecard if available, and questionnaire responses. The Conservation PAC endorses candidates who understand that protecting our air, water, and land resources is a priority, and an integral part of building our economy and maintaining a high quality of life for North Carolinians.

We believe the most important thing you can do for the environment is vote! And who we elect matters.
