Through her art, work and community service, Lois Deloatch is committed to uplifting humanity and advancing peace. Currently, she is a Senior Fellow at Self-Help where she previously served as Executive Vice President. Her earlier leadership roles included Vice Chancellor for Institutional Advancement at North Carolina Central University and Executive Director of the NCCU Foundation. She worked 20+years at Duke University in development positions, including Associate Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations and Major Gifts Officer. Lois is also a professional music artist with six recordings as leader. She has performed nationally and internationally. Lois serves on boards and advisory committees for numerous causes and nonprofit organizations, including Peace Hill Avila, Durham’s Cultural Roadmap Planning Group, Senior PharmAssist, St. Joseph Historic Foundation/Hayti Heritage Center, and others. She earned a Bachelor of Arts from UNC Chapel Hill and an MA from Duke University. Lois is a native of Northampton County, NC and lives in Durham with her husband, Edward Gomes, Jr. She’s the proud mother of an adult son (and daughter-in-law) and two grandchildren.
