Administrative Watch: Pipeline Questions Continue to Mount

In another North Carolina reaction to a multi-state issue, NC state regulators are adding to their questions about the water quality and environmental justice impacts of the proposed Atlantic Coast Pipeline (ACP).

The ACP would transport fracked natural gas from fields in West Virginia through the state of Virginia to markets in North Carolina and potentially beyond. Last week, state regulators announced that the North Carolina decision on a clean water certification for the project would be delayed as late as February. Several other related environmental permits were postponed.

Among the state’s concerns are clean air, clean water, sedimentation and other polluted runoff, and the impacts that this pipeline project could have on the disproportionately poor and minority residents living near its proposed route.
