Coast Watch: Comment on Offshore Drilling

Citizens who can’t be in Raleigh for today’s event on the proposal to open North Carolina coastal waters to offshore drilling can still submit comments.

The U.S. Interior Department’s Bureau of Offshore Energy Management (BOEM) is holding a public “meeting” in Raleigh today, which coastal conservation groups (including NCLCV) have targeted for a major turnout effort. The drop-in style meeting is being held from 3-7 p.m. at the Hilton North Raleigh/Midtown (3415 Wake Forest Road, Raleigh NC 27609). Conservation groups will hold a rally and news event at 6 p.m. at the same location.

BOEM’s description of their input meeting is here.

Information on submitting comments in opposition to offshore drilling, either in-person or online, can be found here.
