Speaking of “plans,” the NC Utilities Commission’s Carbon Plan was the subject of a webinar, hosted by E2 (Environmental Entrepreneurs) and Research Triangle Cleantech Cluster, discussing the alternative paths to reduction of carbon pollution from the energy sector in North Carolina. Environmental and climate advocates have panned that “plan” as more of a collection of conflicting alternatives. The webinar provided an illuminating discussion of the diverging paths being considered for the next iteration of the Carbon Plan, while several panelists effectively made the case that relying on more clean renewables and battery storage is the cheapest and most reliable path.
