Last week, The Nominees For Governor Were Chosen. Here’s Their Stances on Climate.
In North Carolina and worldwide, we’re wrapping up the hottest winter on record. And climate change is to blame. But don’t expect the Republican nominee for governor, Mark Robinson, to tell you the truth about that.
Robinson calls climate change “junk science,” educators who teach students about it “liars,” and vows that he will block action to deal with the climate crisis or pursue a clean energy transition if he is elected governor of North Carolina in November. We are working along with the Coalition Against Robinson Extremism (CARE) to make sure that doesn’t happen.
Stein Will Act On Climate
In stark contrast, Democratic nominee and current NC Attorney General Josh Stein has committed to swiftly act on the climate crisis. He will further the outstanding clean energy and environmental trail blazed by outgoing Gov. Roy Cooper. Cooper has reached the maximum of two consecutive terms and cannot run again. It’s no wonder advocates decry the ignorant obstructionism of Mark Robinson and praise Josh Stein’s record and commitments. In fact, national environmental news coverage demonstrates the importance of this race.
Our Endorsement
NCLCV has strongly endorsed Josh Stein for Governor. “In the race for the next Governor of North Carolina, Attorney General Josh Stein is the candidate who has a long record of fighting for the people of our state to enjoy clean air and water, a clean energy future, and a healthy democracy. We know he will continue to work tirelessly to protect us and our quality of life and invest in a clean, renewable energy economy,” said Dan Crawford, NCLCV’s director of governmental relations.
