Green Tie Awards: Honoring Environmental Champions

NCLCV Presented Green Tie Awards to Folks Fighting for Our Democracy and Environment

Last week, the North Carolina League of Conservation Voters (NCLCV) presented our prestigious Green Tie Awards.

The evening’s highest honor—the Pricey Harrison Defender of the Environment Award—was presented to Senate Minority Leader Sydney Batch for her unwavering commitment to protecting North Carolina’s communities and natural resources.

Senator DeAndrea Salvador received the Senator of the Year Award, recognizing her impactful work in promoting clean energy solutions and climate resilience. Representative Sarah Crawford was named Representative of the Year for her dedication to protecting North Carolinians’ health, environment, and democracy. The Catalyst Award was presented to Sally Robertson, honoring her grassroots leadership and tireless efforts to bring clean, reliable, and affordable energy to all North Carolinians.

The event was headlined by CNN Political Analyst Bakari Sellers, who delivered an inspiring keynote address highlighting the urgent need for courageous environmental leadership.

“We are pleased to recognize these highly deserving honorees. Each of them stands up for the environment and the people of North Carolina every day,” said Carrie Clark, NCLCV’s executive director. “Our state, our country, and our planet are going through an incredibly challenging time. We need individuals like these who are willing to fight for clean water, clean air, a vibrant democracy, and clean, affordable energy, along with the good jobs that come with those things.”

Since 2007, the Green Tie Awards have celebrated elected officials and advocates who champion environmental progress at the North Carolina General Assembly and across the state. Those who couldn’t make it to Raleigh last week can still support NCLCV’s efforts in 2026 by making a contribution here.
