Leading Environmental Groups Endorse Biden-Harris

An early endorsement for President Biden.

Four leading environmental and climate action groups, including the League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, have jointly announced their endorsement of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris for re-election in 2024.

In addition to LCV, the participating groups are the Sierra Club, the NRDC (Natural Resources Defense Council) Action Fund, and the NextGen Action Fund. This is the first time all four groups have jointly announced a presidential endorsement. Collectively, the groups represent millions of members, with activists in every state. President Biden accepted the combined endorsements in person at LCV’s 2023 Capital Dinner, joined by representatives of each organization. In statements, the groups praised the Biden-Harris Administration’s unprecedented efforts to address the climate crisis and environmental injustice nationwide.

“Since Day One, President Biden and Vice President Harris have cut through the division in Washington to prioritize and deliver transformational progress on climate, jobs, and justice, and have jump-started our transition to a more equitable clean energy future,” said LCV Action Fund Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld. “We are so grateful for their leadership and are all-in to help reelect President Biden and Vice President Harris so they can finish the job.”

“Young voters make up the largest eligible voting bloc in America and climate justice is a key voting priority,” said NextGen PAC President Cristina Tzintzún Ramirez. “We commend President Biden for his steadfast commitment to confronting the urgent climate crisis that looms over us. By championing the most groundbreaking climate legislation ever witnessed in our nation’s history, he has shown his attentiveness to the concerns of the younger generation. Young voters stand prepared to support his re-election, and continue prioritizing our unwavering dedication to promoting ambitious climate initiatives and safeguarding our collective future.”

“President Biden’s climate leadership has been nothing short of historic,” said Manish Bapna, president and CEO of the NRDC Action Fund. “His policies are already driving a heartland manufacturing renaissance with clean energy at its core, and he has worked to advance environmental justice. We’re counting on Biden taking the fight to the next level in his second term, and he can count on our support.”
“President Biden has acted courageously during a critical inflection point in the climate fight,” said Ben Jealous, National Executive Director of the Sierra Club. “No other administration has done more to move us forward. The stakes could not be higher and the choice could not be more clear. We need President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris back in the White House for another four years.”

While the first formal primary voting in the 2024 election is still six months away, this early unified support from the citizen environmental movement underscores the critical importance of this choice to our national and global environmental future.
