The National Environmental Groups and the Platform Channeling Aid to 12 NC Candidates
Two major national environmental groups are once again cooperating to channel financial support to pro-environment and pro-climate action candidates through the GiveGreen platform. Twelve North Carolina candidates are among those supported.
The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Victory Fund and the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) Action Votes jointly manage www.GiveGreen.com, which connects environmental voters to strong candidates who share their values. Over 50,000 donors have already used the platform to donate, set up recurring contributions, and even create online funding events for their selections.
“Climate donors have already set the pace for GiveGreen to raise more dollars for candidates than ever before, and we’re thrilled to add even more capabilities for members to easily share ways to support climate champions with their friends and family,” said Gene Karpinski, president of LCV Victory Fund. “GiveGreen donors understand the urgency of the climate crisis and extreme weather in our communities and are showing their strong support of climate champions who will fight to protect our communities, clean air and water, our public lands, and future generations.”
The NC Candidates
The 12 NC candidates included in this year’s GiveGreen list include statewide candidates Josh Stein for Governor, Jeff Jackson for Attorney General, Mo Green for Superintendent of Public Instruction, and Allison Riggs for NC Supreme Court. Additionally, GiveGreen includes two members of Congress and five candidates for state legislature. Click here to learn more about each candidate here.
“The growth of GiveGreen parallels the rise of climate as a potent political issue, and I don’t think that’s just a coincidence,” said Kevin S. Curtis, NRDC Action Votes executive director. “Now this expanded platform will give more political donors even more tools to send an unmistakable message to candidates that climate action is a winning issue, and that we’ve got their backs.”
Since its inception in the 2010 electoral cycle, GiveGreen donors have raised nearly $150 million to help elect more than 1,200 pro-environment candidates listed on the platform.
