Judicial Watch: New Supreme Court Nominee Expected Today
The president’s nominee for U.S. Supreme Court is expected to be announced today (Monday, July 9).
Last week, CIB discussed the policy significance of Associate Justice Anthony Kennedy’s retirement. Kennedy was often the court’s swing vote on critical environmental issues—including interpretations of the Clean Water Act and Clean Air Act, such as the EPA’s authority to regulate emissions of carbon dioxide as a climate-changing pollutant.
Environmental policy advocates and congressional partisans from both sides are among those geared up for a fierce clash over the nominee, and an expected close vote. Expect further communication from the NCLCV when the nominee is announced.
