Citizen Groups Begin Public Education on Voter Identification

Various Efforts To Educate To Preserve Democracy.

As North Carolina heads toward its first elections in which voters can be required to produce a photo ID card at their polling place, citizen voter-protection groups are gearing up public education and voter assistance programs.

Detailed information on acceptable forms of identification, and how to use or get them, can be found online in several reliable locations, including the NC State Board of Elections (NCSBE).

The citizen voting-rights group “Democracy NC” has this information on its website and is activating its voter assistance volunteers to be available at early voting sites and many election-day polling places as well.

The national voting-rights group “VoteRiders” has North Carolina- specific information on its website. Most importantly, it will also have a North Carolina effort to aid voters who need assistance applying for a qualifying ID, including transportation assistance in reaching the correct location to apply.

A clean environment depends on the public’s ability to hold legislators and other elected officials accountable via the ballot box. Please help spread accurate information about the law and the programs now available to assist citizens who need help in keeping their right to vote!
