Here’s a quick and nonpartisan source of comparison on the clean energy positions of competing U.S. Senate candidates Cheri Beasley and Ted Budd. The Southern Alliance for Clean Energy (SACE) has compiled short, precisely documented comparisons as part of its series of #candidatesonenergy2022 profiles.

The contrast is about as stark as could be imagined. Beasley is an enthusiast for clean, renewable energy development. Budd has specifically opposed such initiatives, and as a member of Congress he has beaten the drum for dirty energy through his votes and sponsorship of legislation. 

The national LCV Action Fund has endorsed Cheri Beasley in this year’s contest for one of North Carolina’s two seats in the United States Senate. 

The outcome of this race will help determine which set of policies—clean energy and climate justice or dirty energy and climate change denial—moves forward in Congress for the next six years.
