Polls Are Tight While Early Voting Surges
Nearing the end of this campaign, the fight for the soul of America and the future of our planet is still anybody’s game. Early voting continues to surge in North Carolina and around the nation.
Meanwhile, the polls nationally and in the battleground states (including NC) are so tight they squeak.
One local pundit in a key North Carolina county puts matters this way: “This election is coming down to who works the hardest at the end.”
Here’s what we can do to work harder than the pro-polluter forces:
- Find the pro-environment candidates on your ballot (and how to contact their campaigns) via the Green Voter Guide NC
- Reach out to people in your networks: family, friends, neighbors, coworkers, parishioners. Tell them what you know about how close the election is, how it will make a difference to your kids and grandkids for pro-environment candidates to win, and who those candidates are.
- Contact the campaigns of environmental candidates and ask how you can help. Volunteer to make calls, knock on doors, greet voters at the polls. With one week to go, the outcome is in our hands.
Early Voting Deadlines
Early voting continues in North Carolina through Saturday, November 2, at 3 p.m. See the exact daily hours and find early voting sites in your county through the NC State Board of Elections website. Across the state, voters may cast their ballot at any in-person early voting site in their home county during this early voting period.
People eligible to vote can register and vote in one stop at any early voting site in their home county during this time. Plus, measures have been approved to assist voters in the counties most impacted by Hurricane Helene in western North Carolina.
Remember that a valid photo ID is required to vote this year. See the details here.
