Legislators Head Home Until January 14

With the budget deadlock and other issues still unresolved, the General Assembly has formally adjourned until January 14.

That releases most legislators from their official duties over the next month, and lets those who are planning re-election campaigns to dive into fundraising for 2020. For regular folks, these are known as “the holidays.”

In addition to the budget, there will be big environmental issues still to follow when the General Assembly reconvenes in January. Those include upholding Gov. Roy Cooper’s vetoes of the latest package of anti-environment “regulatory reforms” and another wish-list package of changes for the billboard industry, as well as the still-pending Farm Act of 2019.

Stay tuned to the CIB for NCLCV’s calls to action on these and other issues!
