“NCLCV applauds Governor Cooper’s bold actions to further North Carolina’s clean energy transition by establishing 25 new Climate Corps positions. NC is one of just five new states participating in the Climate Corps, again demonstrating Governor Cooper’s commitment to bettering our future. Through this program, more jobs will open for young people to kickstart their professional careers while protecting North Carolina’s communities and landscapes from the threats of climate change.
“Furthermore, the Governor recently declared September 25th – 29th as North Carolina’s Clean Energy Week. Other states, cities, and territories across the United States have followed suit, indicating a nationwide turn to renewable power is underway.
“These actions, along with President Biden’s Affordable Clean Energy Plan, further establish North Carolina as a leader in the nation as the ninth ranked state in the nation for clean energy jobs and the first ranked state in the nation for rural clean energy jobs.
“With this progress in mind, we call on all branches of the North Carolina government to commit to renewable energy. We can and must do better for North Carolinians, and it begins here. Governor Cooper, the North Carolina General Assembly, and all public officials serving our communities must both talk the talk and walk the walk on clean energy.”
