North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper and 10 other Atlantic Coast governors have joined with President Joe Biden in a partnership to boost the growing offshore wind industry, announced last week at the White House.
The partnership includes governors of both major parties, who met last Thursday with Biden Administration officials, wind industry executives, and labor leaders. They discussed ways to expand elements of the industry, including manufacturing facilities, ports, and workforce training and development. Offshore wind plays a key role in the clean energy and climate action plans of both Gov. Cooper and the Biden Administration.
“North Carolina is leading the way to a clean energy future, and collaboration between federal and state governments is helping us get there even sooner. This innovative partnership will create more offshore wind opportunities, bring good-paying jobs and help protect our planet for generations to come,” said Gov. Cooper.
New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy said he and other East Coast governors “are united with our regional and federal partners not just by geography, but by a shared commitment to clean and affordable energy, economic opportunity, and a future in which all community members are shielded from the worsening impacts of climate change.″
