Growing electric vehicle market share brings over 11,000 jobs to the state.
A new study of vehicle electrification rates in the Southeast provides encouraging news on cleaner transportation trends in North Carolina.
The annual report released this month on Transportation Electrification in the Southeast, by the Southern Alliance for Clean Energy (SACE), shows the market share of light-duty vehicles sold in the Southeast doubling in the past two years. North Carolina is in a virtual tie with Georgia and Florida for the regional lead, with electric vehicles making up 7% of new light-duty vehicles sold in the second quarter of this year.
The report also delivers encouraging economic news from this progress, with a total of over 65,000 jobs announced from electric vehicle manufacturing in the region. North Carolina also now leads in the projected capital investment in electric vehicle manufacturing plants.
