As a further aid to voting choices—and to talking with friends and family about why you support particular state legislative candidates—NCLCV’s 2021-2022 Legislative Scorecard is online and ready for your review.
The Scorecard is an annual educational release of NCLCV. This year we introduce the 2022 Scorecard by making note of an important addition to the scoring: “Defending a strong democracy is critical to the environmental work we do in this state. For the first time, this scorecard tracks the votes that attempted to strengthen or weaken North Carolina’s democracy.” In particular, the 2022 Scorecard takes into account legislators’ votes on three bills which would have limited which legally-cast ballots were counted, and restricted critically needed funding for election administration.
Check out the 2022 Scorecard, and read all about the key votes this year on legislation to help or harm our state’s environment, advance or retreat on environmental justice, and act (or not) on the climate crisis—as well as where your state House and Senate representatives stood on those votes.
