A leading national renewable energy trade association has expanded its focus from just wind to include other renewable energy sources. As of January 1, the American Wind Energy Association will become the American Clean Power Association, including 800 member companies and organizations.
Last week, the association announced a new Executive Director, Heather Zichal, a former advisor to President Barack Obama. She has also worked for the Nature Conservancy, and for then-Senator John Kerry (who has been announced as President-elect Biden’s global climate envoy).
In an interview last week, Zichal said, “We’ve gone from a point in time when the voice in Washington for the renewable sector is no longer a nice to have, it’s a must-have as we think about our climate and economic agenda.”
