Campaign Watch: End Gerrymandering
Tired of legislators who act like they don’t have to care what the public thinks?
NCLCV wants you to take part in the push to restore a responsive legislature in our state, by creating legislative districts where there’s real competition every election. We need a system where legislators don’t choose their voters, but instead voters choose their legislators.
Democracy North Carolina is sponsoring a “Citizens Lobby Day to End Gerrymandering” on March 1 at the General Assembly in Raleigh. For more details or to register, see here.
If you can’t make it to Raleigh in person this Wednesday, you can still support the effort to restore fair elections. Sign on to NCLCV’s statement in support of reform here.
This effort is supported by groups on both the left and right side of the political spectrum. A nonpartisan fair redistricting commission to set new district lines could be approved by the legislature at any time—and it should.
