Members of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Scientific Advisory Board say the scientific evidence does not support some of the Trump Administration’s rollbacks of critical Obama-era rules protecting clean water and air.
The three key rules the board reviewed included the Obama Clean Water Rule and its Clean Car Standards, two of the most important environmental safeguards adopted during that administration. “In each case, the 41 scientists on a board — many of whom were appointed by Trump administration officials to replace scientists named by the Obama administration — found the regulatory changes flew in the face of science,” reported the New York Times.
It’s not news that the Trump EPA is making major environmental policy decisions contrary to the scientific studies and evidence. However, it ought to give pause to observers across the political spectrum that even Trump-appointed scientists agree with that conclusion. By any rational standard, this isn’t fake news.
