Tillis and Burr Score Poorly on Environment

Last year, as ever, North Carolina’s U.S. Senators Thom Tillis and Richard Burr, and most members of the state’s U.S. House delegation obstructed environmental progress, according to the League of Conservation Voters’ 2019 National Environmental Scorecard.

NCLCV Director of Governmental Relations Dan Crawford was blunt in his evaluation of Tillis’ and Burr’s performance, saying they “voted in lockstep with President Trump, approving his Dirty Power Scam which worsens pollution and our climate crisis, and confirming his appointments of fossil fuel lobbyists Andrew Wheeler and David Bernhardt to lead key environmental agencies.”

There’s at least some good news in the report. Crawford continued, “Despite the challenges, our environmental champions in Congress like Representatives Alma Adams, G.K. Butterfield, and David Price held their ground, and fought back every step of the way to protect our fundamental rights to clean air and safe drinking water.”

Dig into the full scorecard and find out more about where Tillis, Burr, and your representative stood on protecting your health and quality of life!

Then tell Tillis and Burr to act on climate by supporting the Clean Economy Act, which would boost North Carolina’s clean energy job market and save our future!
