Longtime Coastal Advocate Passes Away

Longtime Coastal Advocate Passes Away

Dick Bierly

Sad news to pass along: longtime North Carolina environmentalist and member of NCLCV’s Conservation PAC board Richard “Dick” Bierly passed peacefully in his sleep last Wednesday, March 20. He was 86 years old.

Dick was a Republican who believed protecting our environment is good for business and people alike, and that clean air, clean water, and natural lands boost our economy through tourism, fishing, and other activity. He put the “conserve” in “conservative.”

For more information about Dick’s fascinating life and on how you can pay tribute to him, see his obituary.
