NCLCV PAC Names Legislative Endorsements

Our Conservation PAC announced “fast-track” endorsements of 45 “proven environmental champions” seeking election or re-election to the General Assembly this fall. Among the group are six challengers seeking Senate seats and five seeking House seats.

“These leaders earned our renewed support because they have proven they will respect science, listen to experts, and act to promote every North Carolinian’s health and well-being at a time when that has never been more important,” said Carrie Clark, our executive director.

In 2016, we were instrumental in electing Roy Cooper governor, and in 2018, helped multiply the environmental champions who have successfully sustained his vetoes of Jones Street’s pro-polluter policies. We are now working to make our legislative Green Caucus a majority, to strengthen Cooper’s ability to advance a positive, pro-conservation, pro-clean energy agenda.

“2020 is our best opportunity to put our state on a path that will once again protect people instead of polluters,” Clark continued. “We are confident these candidates will continue to be leaders in solving the climate crisis, establishing Clean Energy for All, and saving North Carolinians from the threat of GenX, coal ash, and hog waste contamination.”

These newly endorsed candidates join Gov. Cooper and 11 state legislative candidates already endorsed during the March primary elections. All 12 of those candidates won their primaries and continue to have Conservation PAC’s support for the general election. The PAC will issue further endorsements in the coming months.
