Senators Erica Smith-Ingram of Hertford County and Jay Chaudhuri of Wake County will receive the 2017 Green Tie “Rising Star” awards for newer legislators who already have shown an especially strong commitment to defending the health and natural resources of our state.

Newly confirmed Secretary of NC’s Department of Military and Veteran Affairs, former NC Representative Larry Hall, will receive the 2017 edition of “The Joe” (a special award honoring the contributions of environmental legislative champions who are leaving or have recently left the General Assembly). Secretary Hall receives the award for his pro-environment work as a member of the N.C. House, including recent terms as Minority Leader there.

The 2017 Green Tie Awards event will be held May 10 in Raleigh. For more information and to register to attend, click here.
