Help Us Call for a Stronger Carbon Plan from Duke Energy.
We invite concerned citizens to join in calling on NC Attorney General Josh Stein to pressure the NC Utilities Commission (NCUC) for a stronger carbon reduction plan by Duke Energy.
“In 2021, the North Carolina General Assembly passed HB 951, a law requiring Duke Energy to cut their carbon emissions 70% by 2030, and reach carbon net-zero by 2050. While the goals of HB 951 are imperative for clean energy, we have always said this law gave Duke Energy too much power and too much wiggle room. Now, that is exactly what is happening – Duke is trying to move the 2030 deadline,” says Michelle “Meech” Carter, NCLCV’s Director of Clean Energy Campaigns. “Attorney General Josh Stein has a track record of standing up to big polluters. Now we need him to make sure the NCUC follows the law and finalizes a carbon plan that protects our communities and fights climate change.”
Help urge Attorney General Stein to act now on this critical climate issue!
