“Washington politicians have passed a broken budget: a harmful bill that raises costs and kicks hard-working North Carolinians off their health insurance – all to fund massive tax breaks for billionaires,” said Carrie Clark, NCLCV Executive Director. “This bill will make families already fighting to get by choose between putting food on the table or paying skyrocketing power bills. It will strip health care from the sick. It will close hospitals in rural areas that already lack access to health care. It will defund public schools, raise costs on household essentials, and balloon the national debt to greater levels than ever before, all to give tax breaks to the ultra-wealthy and big corporations.”

NCLCV and the other sponsoring public interest organizations are inviting North Carolinians and members of Congress from across the state to these town halls to discuss how this “broken budget” will impact our communities – and how we can hold Washington accountable for the damage.
