Education & Resources: End Gerrymandering

Speaking of the problem of non-competitive legislative districts, and the difficulty that creates for holding legislators accountable for their bad environmental votes, there’s an effort underway now to change that.

Democracy North Carolina is sponsoring a “Citizens Lobby Day to End Gerrymandering” on March 1 at the General Assembly in Raleigh. For more details or to register, see here.

This effort is supported by groups on both the left and right side of the political spectrum. A nonpartisan fair redistricting commission to set new district lines could be approved by the legislature at any time—and it should. You can join the movement by adding your name in support of North Carolina adopting fair, transparent elections here.
