RALEIGH: Today, the NC League of Conservation Voters’ Conservation PAC, which works to elect a pro-conservation majority at the state legislature and other key offices, proudly announces its endorsement of three incumbent legislative candidates who are facing competitive primary challengers.

“It is critical that we have elected officials who prioritize the values of clean air, water, and energy helping to shape policy for our state in the NC General Assembly,” noted Dan Crawford, NCLCV’s director of governmental relations. “These three legislators have a proven track record of protecting the health and welfare of North Carolina’s people and natural resources.”

The Conservation PAC endorses the following three candidates:

  • Representative Rosa Gill, (HD-33) – During the 2015 legislative session, Rep. Gill rejected the anti-environmental agenda and consistently voted in favor of pro-clean air and water policies. She earned a 100% in NCLCV’s Legislative Scorecard, giving her a lifetime score of 94%.
  • Representative Jean Farmer-Butterfield (HD – 24) – Over the years, Rep. Farmer-Butterfield has become a stronger voice on behalf of pro-conservation values. Even as House and Senate leaders pushed policies that jeopardized the state’s natural resources during the 2015 legislative session, Rep. Farmer-Butterfield remained steadfast in protecting what matters, earning her a 100% in NCLCV’s Legislative Scorecard.
  • Senator Angela Bryant (SD – 4) – Senator Bryant demonstrated her commitment to prioritizing people over polluters during the 2015 legislative session, earning her a 90% in NCLCV’s Legislative Scorecard. In 2014, Senator Bryant received the honor of Senator of the Year at the organization’s annual Green Tie awards.

NCLCV makes its endorsement decisions based on the environmental voting and leadership record of incumbent legislators, issue questionnaires sent to candidates, and other background information. The 2015 Legislative Scorecard can be seen at nclcv.org/scorecard2015. NCLCV will make additional endorsements after the March 15th primary.
