NCLCV Applauds Gov. Cooper’s Nominees to Lead NC Dept. of Natural & Cultural Resources
Rep. Susi Hamilton and Reid Wilson bring wealth of conservation, economic experience
RALEIGH: Dan Crawford, NCLCV’s director of governmental relations, released the following statement in response on Governor Roy Cooper’s choice of Representative Susi Hamilton to serve as North Carolina’s next Secretary of Natural and Cultural Resources and Reid Wilson, executive director of Conservation Trust for North Carolina, to become the department’s first Chief Deputy:
“Representative Susi Hamilton and Reid Wilson are two impressive leaders who will bring a wealth of conservation and economic development experience to our state’s Department of Natural and Cultural Resources. Both dedicated public servants have prioritized preserving North Carolina’s natural heritage throughout their respective careers. Rep. Hamilton led the fight to maintain our state’s historic preservation tax credit while Reid, in his role at Conservation Trust for North Carolina, increased protected land along our state’s treasured Blue Ridge Parkway as well as historic farmlands throughout our agricultural communities.
The Department of Cultural and Natural Resources has the responsibility to ensure current and future generations of North Carolinians have the opportunity to learn about and experience the natural wonders of our state. Susi Hamilton and Reid Wilson are the right people to ensure that mission is accomplished.”
