MORE BAD NEWS FOR McCRORY: GOV EARNS “F”FROM NCLCV
After abysmal “D” last year, Gov slides further in enviro rating due to public trust, coal ash issues

RALEIGH – Governor Pat McCrory’s standing in the eyes of North Carolina voters has gone from bad to worse thanks to the release of the North Carolina League of Conservation Voters’ scorecard showing he earned an “F” in 2016. Last year, the environmental and public health organization scored him at a “D,” a low bar he was somehow still unable to clear in 2016.

“Governor McCrory has consistently put the profits of polluters over the health of North Carolina families, and deserves his failing grade,” said NCLCV Director of Communications Katie Todd. “Because the McCrory administration flip flopped on whether or not North Carolinians’ water was safe to drink, Gov. McCrory earned an “F” for putting the interests of former employer Duke Energy ahead of the health of his constituents,””Todd added.

Governor McCrory and his allies in the legislature let corporate polluters off the hook and ignored the health and well-being of North Carolinians. All of the scores can be found at nclcv.org/scorecard2016.

“Governor McCrory and his legislative allies failed us once again in 2016 by slashing common-sense protections for our health and natural resources,” said Todd, adding, “so we are showing voters the scores their elected officials earned on key environmental bills. This is information voters should know before heading to the polls this November. Who do elected officials look out for – their constituents or corporate polluters? The scores don’t lie.”

NC League of Conservation Voters is a statewide lobbying organization dedicated to protecting, preserving, and enhancing North Carolina’s natural environment. NCLCV has been working to protect North Carolina’s environment and our citizen’s health for nearly 50 years, turning environmental values into North Carolina priorities. NCLCV’s vision for the future of North Carolina is that all citizens and our elected decision-makers will better understand and appreciate North Carolina’s unique natural environment, and the integral role it plays in North Carolina’s economy and quality of life.
