Ty is a communication strategist and science communicator who uses storytelling to shape powerful narratives that inspire action to protect our families and environment. They combine expertise in biodiversity and conservation with a Master’s of Environmental Management from Duke University and a certificate in Community-Based Environmental Management. Ty has led successful advocacy efforts, including uniting organizations, community members, and business leaders to pressure Senator Thom Tillis to oppose harmful federal budget cuts under the Trump Administration. They also helped launch Ocean Everblue as a nonprofit, supporting its mission to advance marine science communication. Originally from the Rockies in Utah, Ty began their career with the U.S. Forest Service. They have since made the Southeast their home, falling in love with everything from the Smokies to the Outer Banks. Outside of their professional work and advocacy, Ty enjoys sports – especially gymnastics – and most outdoor activities.
