Tell Congress to Fight for Solar For All

Tell Your Members of Congress to Fight to Provide Affordable, Clean Energy to Communities that Need it Most

As part of the Trump administration’s ongoing war on clean energy, the EPA is seeking to cancel $7 billion in grants under the Solar for All program. Across North Carolina, this program has previously committed $156 million to help low-wealth families, renters, and rural communities access affordable, sustainable energy. The program is actively under development and is set to launch before the end of the year. If the EPA rescinds this funding our state will face: higher energy bills, job losses, and threats to local businesses and economies.

The Solar for All program helps to lower energy bills, create clean energy jobs, and support local businesses and economies.

Solar and wind energy are more than 50% cheaper than energy produced by fossil fuels. Experts estimate new federal legislation could raise NC ratepayers’ energy bills up to $700 per year. Our state needs affordable, sustainable energy, and this program helps provide that to those who need it most – namely low-wealth families, renters, and rural communities across the state.

Jobs and Economic Benefits

This funding brings well-paying jobs to our state and further cements North Carolina as the number one state to do business in. These cuts risk losing over 20 billion dollars of investments and over 17,000 jobs. A majority of these opportunities are in rural communities, where folks already struggle to find good jobs to feed their families. As the number one state for rural clean energy jobs, North Carolina cannot afford these losses.

North Carolina businesses have seen major expansions and investments from the clean energy tax credits, which have generated $16.2 billion in new private-led investment for over 60 energy and manufacturing facilities across our state. Another 7 billion dollars of private investments have already been announced for more than 100 facilities statewide.
