Our PAC Endorses Holley, Stein

Last week was the 50th anniversary of Earth Week, and our Conservation PAC marked it by unveiling two more key statewide endorsements in Council of State races: state Rep. Yvonne Lewis Holley for Lieutenant Governor and Josh Stein for re-election as Attorney General.

In its news release, the PAC said, “For four terms in the state House, Holley has been a champion for the disadvantaged communities who are most impacted by pollution and the climate crisis, and co-sponsored a bill to make all state property run on 100% clean energy by 2050. Stein was a leader on environmental issues for eight years in the Senate, and as A.G. has held the Trump Administration and polluters like Chemours accountable for their assault on people’s fundamental right to clean air and water.”

“These leaders earned our support because they have proven they will respect science, listen to experts, and act to promote every North Carolinian’s health and well-being at a time when that has never been more important,” said Carrie Clark, our executive director. “Our state needs Attorney General Stein’s continuing advocacy and a Lt. Gov. Holley presiding over what we hope is a pro-environment state Senate. They are strong partners for Gov. Cooper.”

“2020 is our best opportunity to put our state on a path that will once again protect people instead of polluters,” Clark continued. “We are confident Holley and Stein will continue to be leaders in solving the climate crisis, establishing Clean Energy for All, and saving North Carolinians from the threat of GenX, coal ash, and hog waste contamination.”

Thus far in 2020, our PAC has also endorsed Gov. Roy Cooper for re-election, along 56 candidates for election or re-election to the state House and Senate. You can see them all right here. More endorsements for Council of State and the General Assembly will follow at a later date, so stay tuned.
