Washington Watch: Stein Joins Pitch to Preserve Clean Power Plan

North Carolina’s Josh Stein is among the Attorneys General from 18 states and the District of Columbia to sign onto comments urging the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to retain the Clean Power Plan rules approved by the Obama Administration.

In opposing the Trump EPA’s proposed substitute, these state leaders point to the EPA’s own analysis showing that the new plan would increase emissions of dangerous air pollutants.

“We must not stick our heads in the sand,” Stein said in a statement. “Climate change is happening and it will affect us all. We simply must reduce greenhouse gas emissions to ensure that our planet does not overheat and bring devastating consequences to our children and grandchildren.”
