Judicial Watch: States Sue Trump Administration in Support of Energy Efficiency
Last week 11 states, led by California and New York, sued in support of energy efficiency rules adopted under the Obama Administration late last year. The lawsuit seeks to force the Trump Administration to file the normally routine, and now overdue, final paperwork that will allow five new energy efficiency standards to go into effect.
The rules cover air compressors, commercial boilers, walk-in freezers, portable air conditioners, and uninterruptible power supplies. They’re part of the overall effort to improve American energy efficiency and reduce air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions—an effort which appears to have no appeal to the Trump Energy Department.
Three public interest organizations (Natural Resources Defense Council, Sierra Club, and Consumer Federation of America) filed suit the same day to require the same result. New York City also joined in the states’ lawsuit.
