Conservation Action: Join the Broad Coalition Opposing Seismic Testing

Business, citizens, local government, and coastal Republicans and Democrats in North Carolina are allied in opposition to the threat of seismic gun testing off the Carolina coast.

This broad opposition is based on the danger to wildlife and fisheries from extremely loud and prolonged repetition of underwater sonic blasts used as part of a pre-drilling exploration process.

A public comment process is underway now on the proposal. Due to the extent of public interest, the National Marine Fisheries Service in late June extended the public comment period to July 21. Concerned citizens can find full details on what and how to comment here.
